Managed Service on behalf of
Mirrored Preschool / School practice
Below are some observations of the
reactions Practitioners have had to SEAD.
- We joined school for ½ day and took part in a
SEAD circle activity including Louis ‘I am good at…’
.
- Preschools this year look and feel more
than ever like our classrooms by having mirrored areas, labels and
resources.
- We held an in-house SEAD training session to
which we invited our linked settings.
- We visited 3 schools to explore their ways of
delivering circle time.
- Through our cluster meetings we were invited
to attend another school’s training and also to share their
resources.
- After visiting school we altered the way we
use Louis to mirror their practice.
- Transition cluster meetings have helped us
mirror time-lines, circle time, greeting/goodbye and tidy-up
routines.
- The Head-teacher invites the preschool
manager into assembly as each new SEAD theme is introduced to the
Reception children.
- A shy child said “I know Louis, he was at my
old nursery”.
- The SEAD focus has helped us build stronger
links with school.
- Once a month FS1 and FS2 rooms are opened up
so that children can participate in activities based on a shared
SEAD theme in whichever room they choose.
