‘Disobedience’ suggests a child might be
naughty in this poem but it is actually the mother! ‘James,
James, Morrison, Morrison took great care of his mother, though he
was only three….’ She goes to the town however, without
consulting her son and gets lost. I have known this poem since I
could talk. My whole family still remembers it to this
day.

"You must never go down
to the end of the town,
if you don't go down with me."

Put on a golden gown.

Said to herself, said she:
"I can get right down
to the end of the town
and be back in time for tea."

SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN MISLAID.
LAST SEEN
WANDERING VAGUELY:
QUITE OF HER OWN ACCORD,
SHE TRIED TO GET DOWN
TO THE END OF THE TOWN -
FORTY SHILLINGS REWARD!"
