| My response to this poem: |
Cats sleep anywhere, Any table, Any chair
...Whether it be on a swing, in an open drawer, or even in an old
sneaker, cats manage to curl up in all kinds of intriguing places.
Eleanor Farjeon's classic poem provides a simple, charming text for
breathtaking illustrations by the popular British painter, Anne
Mortimer. I was asked to recite this poem when I was at primary
school in a competition and I can still recite most of it today! I
have since used this poem in my teaching and have used it as a
starting point for language and creative activities in Nursery and
Reception Classes.

Cats sleep anywhere, any table, any chair.
Top of piano, window-ledge, in the middle, on the edge.
Open drawer, empty shoe, anybody's lap will do.
Fitted in a cardboard box, in the cupboard with your
frocks.
Anywhere! They don't care!
Cats sleep anywhere.
