The Enormous Turnip
After missing a whole term of schooling, due to illness, I returned somewhat apprehensively to the final rehearsals of a class performance called “The Turnip”. I remember with gratitude the teacher who understood that being part of the chain of bodies that eventually released the turnip was far more important than the enactment itself. Needless to say the moral of the tale was meaningful on many levels!
This tale like many traditional tales is best told as an active story outdoors. Children especially love the sequencing and the final ‘Tug of war’!
