Tyres
Recommended Resource:
Tyres
Tyres planted up with a variety of grasses and gravel.
How can this be used?
Children can use them with small world resources such as wild animals or dinosaurs, to create a more natural environment for imaginative play. Children can create maps of their 'islands' marking buried treasure or a route for an adventure trail. Turn- taking and opportunities for quality talk can happen as the tyre is circular and enables all to access alongside each other.
Where can I find this resource:
Tyres are available from local garages who are often willing to donate them for free as they have to pay to dispose of them. Add hardcore to the base of the tyre to allow for drainage before adding compost. Pea gravel and a range of grasses are available from a range of garden centres, hardware stores or DIY stores.
