Recommended Resource - Helen Rutherford
A Basket of Scarves
Recommended Resource:
A basket of silk and thin cotton scarves, in a variety of sizes and designs
How can this be used?
Children can use them to dance around with to music on a stage area. Scarves help children to feel the beat and develop musical flow. They can be used to dress up in (as children can tie them and tuck them easily), as princess gowns and veils, as capes for wizzards and costumes for superhero play. They can also be used for shelters and den- making, inside or outside, in the home corner as covers and table cloths, for dressing dolls, as blind folds, for juggling, and ties for fixing constructions together.
Where can I find this resource:
The best place to find these sorts of scarves is in charity shops but they can be found on educational suppliers websites (google 'play scarves') or catalogues, however, these will be much more expensive.
