Electronic Profile
|
There is an electronic version of the EYFS Profile this is
called the eProfile and is available to download from www.eprofile.org.uk. This
is Version 3.3, the latest version released September 2011.
Key new features of this version include:
- Scatter graph that allows you to
plot pupil scores in one scale against their scores in
another.
- Enhancement to the average points
scores graph that allows you to run through and superimpose the
scale scores of each pupil against the plotted averages for the
group.
- Graph showing percentages of pupils
achieving 6+ in scales and within areas of learning.
- Quality assurance feature.
This is based on the information found in the QCDA factsheet
QCA/08/3905 Quality
assurance of early years foundation stage profile data,
which covers a range of
interconnections and dependencies between scales and scale points.
The printout based on this information set flags up for each
pupil any assessments that may require checking or further
investigation in order to produce a complete and rounded assessment
for that pupil.
- Pupil printout showing details of
all scale scores and dates, a pupil to a page.
- The manual can now be displayed
directly form within eProfile - Help > Manual
- New preview engine. Also saves to
PDF format (click on Save and select PDF).
- New spell checker - the old one was
not compatible with Windows Vista and later.
- The CSV export file and CSV import
file formats have been updated to match each other. This now
allows you or your LA to import assessment data (as well as names, of course) into eProfile.
The Common Transfer file does not hold dated scale point
level data. The CSV file output (manage your work > create
an assessments CSV file) has been altered slightly (postcode field
shifted). The import facility (if you select CSV file format)
will now expect to read a data file that has that same format,
though the assessments columns are optional.

As well as demonstrating children’s progress
the eProfile has a report writing facility and charts which
demonstrate progress.
It is essential that users also
download the manual alongside the electronic version as
this provides a step by step guide on how to use the eProfile
effectively.
Initial instructions to get started.
When practitioners first download the electronic
version they will need to enter the password which is
‘password’
Then enter the setting’s details.
Users should click onto the year that the cohort will
finish the EYFS Profile.
The eProfile will then open.
Practitioners should change the password to an appropriate one
straight away.
Then input the pupil details.
Please read the manual and follow the guidance within this document
for further useful information.
e-Profile v3.2 Guidance
Manual
Please Note; within any setting it is
essential that the cohort’s information is NOT kept on one laptop.
The information should be accessible to the setting manager/
Headteacher, as well as being accessible to the Senior Leadership
Team, year one teachers and Governors.
It is
also wise to back up the information onto a disc or pen drive and
store this in a locked filing cabinet.
Although the latest versions were
initially hoped to be network compatible, in practice they are
not. Practioners should still maintain a seperate version of
eProfile on each users computer. They can export the
information and backups to a network (G:) drive to be shared
amongst all users.
