Managed Service on behalf of
Outdoor Malleable
Opportunities
Effective ‘ Indoor
Malleable Opportunities’ would include many features. This
should:
- Provide children with a variety of
opportunities to use fingers, hands and even feet to explore
textures - especially outdoors
- House a variety of tools and equipment to
explore a range of malleable materials. This could include cutters,
rollers, sticks and squeezers.
- Offer a variety of malleable materials such
as playdough, clay, jelly and cooked pulses
- Include resources which are clearly labelled
and accessible to all children
- Be transferable to learning areas as
appropriate. For example, having playdough in the role-play
area and clay
with construction
areas
- Make use of builder’s trays to house some
malleable materials. For example, jelly, cornflour and cooked
pasta
- Provide opportunities to bake and cook
- Modelled and discussed by adults as and where
necessary
- Enhanced according to children’s interests,
possible themes and on-going observations.
